Holy Toledo! I just looked and noticed that I have been blogging for over a year now. My 1st anniversary actually happened on June 24th. In the last 377 days we have seen:
- 149,379 words
- 5,284 page views
- Average page views per day: 14.47
- 166 postings – that’s almost every other day. Way better that I thought going into this since I limit my writing time to lunch hour. I’ve been traveling a lot in the time since I’ve been blogging. Big trips to Nashville, Atlanta and Savannah have occurred and taken their toll on the output. Also, I’ve been super busy in my so-called private life. Finally, I sometimes need go home during lunch and walk the dog. That takes at least two hours, which come out of the rest of my lunch hour for that particular week. I mention this because tomorrow I have to go home and walk the dog so there won’t be any posts on Thursday or Friday as a result.
- 2 subscribers – only one of whom is known to me [Hi, Charles]
- A Rock-Steady-Cru® of regular readers who enliven this enterprise with their commentary – I’m talking shoutouts to Ronkanefiles, Echorich, Taffy, Chas_M, Brian, and Tim. Half of these guys I’ve known since wetnosed punkdom. Others I’ve just met here.
- Most popular day: Feb. 4, 2011 with the 1st installment of the Cramps Rock GPA® above the fold! 89 Page views on that day!
- Most commentary on a single post: Faking It Files: More False New Wave with 33 comments [!]. That’s almost 3x the nearest contender! If I were a commercial sort, I’d need to work this faux New Wave action more rigorously since this topic obviously hit an untapped nerve!
- What are the most popular page views so far? Keep in mind that every page is the home page until it gets bumped by the next post. These named page views account for all views outside of home page status.

- What are the most popular links from my pages that people have clicked through? The Version Crazy site is insanely popular as the stat table below shows. It has almost 9x the click throughs as the nearest contender. I’ll admit; Version Crazy is a blog I which I’d thought of first. The fact that the blog header has color bar imagery sampled from Dennis Leigh’s brilliant cover to “Systems Of Romance” by Ultravox just slays me. Below are the top 12 links out of a huge list.

- My stats are modest for a big reason; I am ethically opposed to having Google make any money off of my existence! People getting Google hits on search terms for my blog would be a form of putting money in Google’s pocket – they get ad revenue for every web search that turn up results – so Homey don’t play dat. Google crossed a line with me last year when they teamed with Verizon and issued this statement. So – this blog is rendered invisible to all search engine spiders. The only way I get visitors, that I know of, is by visitors clicking my sig in comments made on other blogs, or by the good graces of Sir Vinny Vero, a personal hero of mine who honors me by including a very valuable link to my blog on his blogroll. Check’s in the mail, Vinny! Alas, I kid.
That just about wraps up this little Post-Punk Monk retrospective. Check back in a year and we’ll see where we’ve gone from here. Until then, remember: Music Is Your Best Entertainment Value!

Congratulations on your first year! I look forward to each new post, even if it is an artist of band that I generally am not interested in.

Congrats Monk! This is a wonderful place to revel in the music which I still hold so dear! I always enjoyed being the only one of my friends that listened to the music that I followed. I was the guy who introduced new music to them.
It’s a totally amazing thing to find others now who had so many of the same musical adventures and share with them!

Well done. I’ve read each entry and I look forward to year two. As I said before, our music network started this wonderful conversation many years ago, and we’re still having it. Cheers!!

Congratulations on the year milestone. Your blog is one of my must-reads…and my lunch break is always more fun when there’s a new entry for me to read (and possibly comment on!). Bring on the next installment of false new wave!

i do read your blog at lunch, but if i wanna comment on something i will often ruminate (you just know how thought out and composed my responses are!) and come back to it in the evening.Sometimes a few hours delay is my best editing tool!

Taffy – I’m not a big fan of editing as if you couldn’t tell. Life’s too short and it’s not as though this blog is part of my CV. I usually type in a frenzy to cram my thoughts into my lunch hour and I’ll bet that it shows! I may circle back the next day and tame the most egregious flaws but for the most part…
