  6. Philip Jap: Save Us – A+M – AMS 8217 – 7″ – UK/gift

Not much activity following a very tumultuous month of music buying. The Claudia Brücken dlx RM has a single track I paid dearly for years ago in its program. One day I need to A/B their vs. my remastering since they were both done from vinyl to compare and contrast. The Lilac Time US promo EP has the band’s cover of “Big Yellow Taxi,” appearing only here. I’ve looked out for that for many years and missed it several times. No longer. The 7″ers was graciously provided by Ron “The Man” Kane. Just another example of his unassailable magnanimity!

This month, my wife went ahead and ordered the new Brian Eno super DLX box version of his new album directly from Bleep.com. Oh my! I can’t get used to this sort of thing. A record show at the Grey Eagle yielded no CDs but more than enough pleasing vinyl goods. I had forgotten all about The Cucumbers covering “All Shook Up” but a viewing of the video may have been my entrée into the band way back when. I was remastering my H17 BSOG® and noticed that iTunes had a previously unreleased instrumental mix of “Sunset Now” available! Wha…?!

Zebigniews zis month was my friend Ron sending me a brace of non-LP Annabel Lamb singles that predated her debut album and of which I was previously unaware! Yow! This now triggers a REVO event once I get the pair of other tracks needed to remaster the definitive edition of “Once Bitten.” And iTunes was giving away the new Duran Duran track so I took it! Pretty groovy!
