We now interrupt this OMD Rock G.P.A. to bring you the all-important OMD world tour dates for 2017 and 2018. This Rock G.P.A. thread may last for a while. Obviously there are things that will pop up so we’ll divert the thread for a bit. Since the North American tour dates dropped into my inbox a day or two ago, I thought it best to share them since tickets will go on sale tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. in each relevant time zone.

It looks like that opening slot for Barenaked Ladies, the longest slog at 34 dates, that OMD had ever made in The States, might have paid off in viable exposure and a fat 27 date tour; their biggest headliner over here ever. So that to the naysayers on last year’s event. I see that many of my friends will have dates right in their backyards, so they had better attend! OMD are firing on all cylinders right now and deserve every scrap of attention they can muster up. Of course, I’m going to have to drive to Atlanta for the date, but at least they are playing at Center Stage; a super nice, intimate but roomy venue. The last time they were jammed into a concrete bunker atop Center Stage that some called a club [“The Loft”]. It worked but I pray that place never has a fire. My friends Elisa + Tom, companions of all of our 21st century OMD experiences, will once again accompany my wife and I. Now that I think of it, there was only one OMD show I saw without Tom. Surely, cause for a campaign ribbon of some sort?

Vip Gold and Platinum packages are available for all of these shows at Pledge Music. Gold level [$50] nets you the soundcheck and a signed set list. Platinum level [$100] gains meet + greet access as well. I did VIP last time with Tom. Elisa didn’t at the time, but now she’s a fan so she wants to. I will probably pass, but don’t let me stop you. The soundcheck is particularly interesting and having access at least once with your musical heroes [and stoking their bottom line so it can happen reliably again] is how we have to roll in this fallen world of no label tour support.
