This morning I was checking out Visage in Soundcloud and heard this little gem, just released, which I had to share immediately. My instincts whisper to me that I will be really enjoying this new album, but this clip confirms it!

Post-Punk Monk 
It’s really remarkable how they’ve managed to both preserve and build on the trademark Visage sound. Only 1.5 songs heard so far and it’s already a better record than Brilliant (insert your own Midge Ure snark in here, it’s an easy target).

Two songs, and two unmistakeable Robin Simon guitar lines. Even if this album turns out to be average, at least we get to hear Simon back in his element playing this type of music.

zoo – And how! Not since Foxx’s “The Garden” have I heard that distinctive guitar bliss. By the way, Foxx has a collaborative album recorded with Simon due out this year.

Echorich – I’d noticed the catfight between Strange, Ure, and Egan earlier this year. I’m no fly on the wall, but judging only the music I’ve heard this far, Steve has a lot to crow about. Apparently Rusty Egan was the man who roped Simon into the project, though Egan and the rest of his hand-picked team bolted, apparently. So kudos to Egan in any case.

Money money money…I don’t doubt that Strange survived off of Visage royalties for the past 20 yrs let alone the past 10. Since we’ve realized in the last year the Ure doesn’t have any ideas to contribute to ANYTHING, it’s just as well that he isn’t involved…
