After writing about a über-comprehensive boxed set of material by Roxy Music, how cannot I also wax eloquent about the imminent release of a similar boxed set of insanely classic material by Simple Minds; one of the very best of the canon of bands influenced by Roxy Music? Think what you will of the band post-1985 and The Breakfast Club; in the years prior they were an incredible Scot band of vast artistic power. Their first seven album are among my favorite arc of artistic development for any group – ever!
One sticking point has been that their early material on Arista has been re-issued on album by Virgin, but none of the attendant Arista B-sides and single rarities have made it through Virgin’s filter… until now. Coincidental with a tour this month in Europe featuring five songs from their first five albums [which has been covered here] are the bands early albums from “Life In A Day” through “New Gold Dream [81, 82, 83, 84]” all given the DLX RM treatment with the first ever bonus tracks added to the program… finally! Is it complete? Careful perusal of this rundown will provide the answers to inquiring minds.

![Want List: Visage DLX RM […finally!]](https://i0.wp.com/postpunkmonk.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/visage-dlxrmuscda.jpeg?resize=200%2C200&ssl=1)

I have bought more cd’s in the past 4 months than the past two years combined…I have to have this, and look forward to your keen assesment Monk!
I was talking to my Roxy connections in London today and was given a heads up about the care and diligence which has been given to the Roxy Box. It seems that the band has a circle of uber-fans who can connect all the dots and have access to even more of the material than the band or management themselves… Hurrah for the Roxy Trainspotters and Anoraks!!
BTW…should be a 40th anniversary release of the first album down the pipe as well…and the demos of that album still exist!

Shame there’s no mention of the 5.1 mixes on DVD-A for “New Gold Dream”, which I played last night. As well, the DVD set “Seen The Lights – A Visual History” would seem to be ‘needed’.

ronkanefiles – Well, you and I have that disc. I don’t know anyone else with it. Buying that the one time I saw it was one of my slickest moves, especially six years in advance of a 5.1 setup! Good thing I knew it was a largely new mix with extended edits and even unique material – even in 2.0. Fortunately, the “new song” from the DVD-A, “In Every Heaven” is slated in the lineup. Don’t be too hard on the Simple Minds box. It’s priced to move with Amazon selling it for $32 and change as an import – free shipping; excellent for 6xCDs you’ll agree! I would have paid more, but I’m happy to pay less!
