Exhibit A: The Torch Song rarities [part 2]

I figured I might as well plug away at this topic until I run out of records to post, at the very least. These are more records that are being used as source material for a Torch Song rarity compilation.

I.R.S. | US | 12* | 1987 | IRS-23745

The US “Don’t Look Now” 12″ dates from 1987 and is associated with the “Exhibit A” compilation LP released in the USA instead of  their 2nd album “Ecstasy.” This sports a 6:30 “extended mix” of the A-side plus a 5:40 version of “Can’t Find My Way Home” plus a 7:25 version of “Mothdoom Ecstasy.”

I.R.S. | UK | 12" | 1985 | IRSY 117

“Mothdoom Ecstasy” also turned up as the B-side of their brilliant Bobbie Gentry cover in a 7:33 version. They’re probably identical. The A-side is a deluxe 6:09 version! The cover looks like where I live.

Y II | UK | 7" | 1986 | YII 002

This 7″ has the “A-List Mix” with a timing of 3:06. The B-side is a 4:32 version of “Living Out Of Time” from the “Ecstasy” LP. The last cut looks identical to the LP version, but I’ll let my ears be the judge.

Y II | UK | 12" | 1986 | YII 12 001

The other single from “Ecstasy” is “White Night” and the A-side is 4:22, slightly longer than the 3:51 mix on the LP.  B-sides are “Mothdub” at 5:05 and “Microdot Daylight” at 2:59.

Y II | UK | 12" | 1986 | YII 12 002

The A-side presumably has the same 5:40 mix as on the US “Don’t Look Now” 1987 12″ with three B-sides. “Spear” in a 2:55 version [shorter than the LP version]. A 3:38 remix of the A-side [longer than on the 7″, shorter than on the LP]. With a 5:52 “Living Out Of Time” remix being the third track. All of this seems ripe for inclusion.

I.R.S. | US | LP | 1987 | IRS-5862

This mashup of albums one and two from Torch Song features four remixed cuts [often shorter] from the “Wish Thing” album with several B-sides and cuts from “Ecstasy.” “Don’t Look Now” is in a shorter 5:32 edit/mix. “Sweet Thing” is trimmed to 3:31 here. “Prepare To Energize” is 3:36, down from 5:29. Finally, “Tattered Dress” is a 4:18 remix. This will continue [and perhaps conclude] in part 3.
