This was something sleek and black so I thought we’d investigate this today. Black Boiler is the electric project of Laurent Audouin by way of Angers, France. Where he was once in an electropop band, Kyu, with Fabrice Nau of Scenius. This single is due to to be released on December 15th, in the usual places. With Black Boiler having Bandcamp page, I’d wager that one could buy the download there on the 15th…as well as the other prominent digital stores [you know the names]. On this single he was collaborating with a French femme vocalist, Bloom.

Black Boiler [Featuring Bloom]: Pilot – FR – DL [2025]
- Pilot [Feat. Bloom] 5:09
- Pilot [instrumental] 5:09
Mr. Audouin is a bass player by trade, so it seems that he brings those potent sensibilities to the fore on this single. With each bar the ear is treated to a masterclass in syncopation as the spare drum programming never seems to repeat itself ever. Meanwhile the bass synth coiled and writhed with an incredibly funky swagger. Relentlessly. Almost brushing against Cabaret Voltaire imperial period vibes, though with a tendril snaking into Disco territory. The snare, hi-hat, and cowbell hits drawing blood each time.
Singer Bloom was deployed here in a Dub capacity. Her vocals distant and filtered through corridors of distortion and pre-echo. She provided a slink factor amid the syncopation; achieving a kind of slinkopation® that begged for a darkened dance floor to hear this in. I just coined that word thanks to this single. The darkly cinematic throb of it just might need to be extended into a eleven minute remix. Hopefully by Stephen Mallinder.
Meanwhile the song is also here in an instrumental version, allowing us to make at the very least an extended re-edit. Until such occurs, the song will be streaming in the usual places next Monday. I wish I had en embedded player to share this right now but Monday will be here before you know it. Meanwhile, haunt the Black Boiler Bandcamp page until it manifests. DJ hit that button.
