Though I have been loathe to monetize Post-Punk Monk.com for 13 years now, all that restraint has been tossed out of the window! We need big bucks to make the European vacation next April happen! I’m looking to sell off huge chunks of my collection and a high holy relic of Punk Rock is currently on auction until Saturday. It’s got an opening bid, so it will be sold. The question is, to whom?
The 1994 tour was hitting Orlando at The Edge, and I hit the merch table and instead of buying a T-shirt, I saw the silkscreened poster and they still had one copy left that was signed by Joey, Johnny, Marky, and CJ at a premium for their signatures, so I went with that! From there it went in a tube with the rest of my New Wave poster collection and currently most of them are on ebay awaiting eyeballs. But I realized that maybe not everyone has investigated the new ONLINE STORE button at PPM, which merely links to ebay for the actual purchase, so we’re dropping hype on the home page. I once made a videotape for Joey Ramone, a set of Move/Roy Wood material. I have a friend in New York whose musician husband knew Joey. He was at their apartment one day and saw the tape I’d made for my friend and requested a copy. My friend relayed that request and I was happy to oblige.

Big Mark – An honor for you, sir! It broke my heart to see Ramones under appreciated in America for so long. It couldn’t have been laughs playing to stadia packed with 80K fans in South America while playing clubs at home! Back in the 90s I got wind of the fact that Warren Cann wanted copies of the Ultravox videos through the Vox’ grapevine and set him up with dubs of both Japanese laserdiscs on VHS. Got a nice letters of thanks back from him.

Big Mark – Actually, the only member of Ultravox mark II I’ve not had some level of correspondence with was Chris Cross, come to think of it.

Do you know the group MAM? They’re one of the Dutch artists that Ron Kane turned me onto. I’ve maintained a friendship with two of them, Pieter Bon and Tom America, ever since Ron and I saw them in concert in 1990 when we were both in the Netherlands. Back when I was still actively engaged in trading live concert recordings, I came across a great recording of a MAM radio concert. When I couldn’t identify one of the songs, I wrote to Pieter and asked him about it, and it turned out to be an unreleased song (“Needekendekundeka”) of which they had no surviving recordings! I sent Pieter a copy, and that very recording is now streaming as part of the new MAM Rarities compilation.

Big Mark – Of course we remember Pieter Bon from the first Ron Kon. I remember when Ron was on the “Pasadena” recording! He made sure to send me a cassette of that and I just looked it up and saw it was on their 1995 CD. I remembered that as a few years earlier. What I didn’t know until now was that Ron was also the vocalist on the title track, “Look : Nederlands!”. How fortunate that you could provide the band with a good quality recording of something they had considered lost.

“Look : Nederlands!” is big fun! It’s Ron yammering about the Dutch language, with Tom America slicing and dicing it to make it rhythmic and fit a fun little tune he cooked up, including musical themes echoing the pattern of Ron’s speaking.

Luis – Welcome to the comments! I went with eBay for my auctions since they make international sales incredibly easy from a shipping perspective. On my Discogs sales, I have to limit sales to America because the mandatory shipping rules they mandate result in a laborious process of setting rules for each country you wish to sell in.

Luis – The winning bidder bid more than the winning price, at the price it sold for the proxy bidding minimum is $10.00. He could have bid $1000 but when you topped out at $520 he got it for ten dollars more. But the sale has gone off and it’s shipping tomorrow. You can only bid at your comfort level on eBay. To do otherwise is a danger. Many was the time that I lost out on things in the 90s when I was using ebay for buying because other were wiling to pay more for things.

negative1ne – My buy-it-now sales have a 7 day delay before payment is due to combine payment. My discounts are automatic but I still can invoice you at whatever price I choose and can manually apply discounts. Buy the other three and then I will invoice you at the discount sales rates and shipping. You putting the other three on your watch list does nothing.

netative1ne – All of my sales have “buy 4 get 12% off” in the auction. You should just be buying them now at the asking price, completing the transaction and eBay will automatically discount the 12%. You have 7 days to pay for multiple sales in my settings. I don’t know what more to say. Buy the others at the listed price. You should automatically get the 12% discount, with the first one even cheaper, now since I made you an offer with the 12% discount already there. In any case, I manually invoice you for all four at the right price and the discounted shipping already discussed.

negative1ne – Sigh. Ebay tells me what to do to institute discount and shipping discount on multiple orders, and then nothing happens. It’s a confusing mess. But thankfully, I can still refund any overpayment on what is proper, and this has been duly done. Thanks so much for buying the posters! I’m happy that they are going to your burgeoning ‘Vox collection.
