As if losing David Bowie weren’t enough to contend with, I just got the news last night that Colin Vearncombe, one of my favorite singer/songwriters of the last 30 years, was in a serious car accident yesterday and is in the hospital in critical but stable condition. I don’t know about you, but his work helped me survive the mid-80s with my mind and integrity intact! Read more about his story here, and let’s hope that Mr. Vearncombe can join us again on stages and in studios once more. His songs and vocal presentation are superb as always, and I need some more of that magic in my life.

Feck…..2016 has gotten off to a dreadful start. Not all that familair with his wider body of work but ‘Wonderful Life’ is a classic.

JC – The “Comedy” album was a great followup, but didn’t have a fat hit single, and sold less. I actually find his 4th, independently produced album “Are We Having Fun Yet” his best. The ornate rococo bravura of “Ave Lolita” blows me away.

Colin Vearncombe, in either his singer songwriter or Black alterego, is one of the great voices of the last 35 years.
Monk is right in saying his mid 80’s output was like an oasis in pop/rock’s desert.
His last few releases have been stellar and 2015’s Blind Faith was one of the year’s best releases. The Love Show, from that release, is one of the most beautiful love songs I’ve had the pleasure of listening to.
I can only be positive and wholeheartedly wish him a speedy recovery.

Very sorry to hear this news, have Blind Faith on order at the moment.
Saw Colin live some years ago, he seemed a very genuine and humble person.

SimonH – “Blind Faith” is something this Monk still needs [ironically].

It seems as though Colin’s injury is quite severe to his brain and the doctors have put him in an induced coma to promote a better chance at healing.
