A [super] active January! The Metamorph has already sent me an unmastered copy of his new album. So new, I don’t even have the cover art yet. Then I discovered to my shock that I had not heard of two singles that Yama Uba had released last year! I have bought so many copies of their still hot “Silhouettes” album since 2024 but I think I only bought them from the Ratskin Records Bandcamp pages, so I never got on their mailing list! Ay-Yi-Yi! I finally rectified that little mishap even as I could not wait to hear these tracks. The Sinead O’Connor cover is wonderous! I enjoy it even more than the original song, and I love the original song!

I forgot that I had reviewed the Sunshine Blind single before it was released, yet I have no files of it in my network. I’m not sure what happened, but I corrected that by buying a copy immediately. I called Harvest Records, my local emporium, to special order the new Don Was + The Pan-Detroit Ensemble CD and…gloryoski!… they had already just re-ordered it and it would be in store the very next day! I thanked them for anticipating my needs and stopped in the next day to pick it up.

Then when I stopped in and had a look at the stock, just for the hell of it, I ended up finding nearly everything I’ve wanted for the last 12 years in stock, used and priced rather inexpensively! The curation of the used stock was impeccable. There was little there that was anything I’ve ever seen in a store! Normally I never see anything I want there but I could have dropped $300 on this day! So my usual slow January of no music buying had seen me spend at record levels! Oops.
